About/bio
Valerie is a Canadian conservator who has worked at:
-Parks Canada in their metals department (Archaeology, outdoor sculpture, and historic metals), their wet archaeological wood department, and their regional generalist labs.
-the Norwegian national museum in their archaeological metals department.
-CJR and International Gilders' supplies, a private practice working mainly in the conservation of outdoor sculptures.
-contracts in the Canadian Arctic, mainly to do condition survey of the collections there.
-The last 12 years have been spent doing general object conservation of all aspects the the Auckland Museum collection, including preventive conservation, pest management, and disaster planning, as well as treatment and analysis.

Masters of Art Conservation, Queen's University

Bachelor of Science (Chemistry), Queen's University

Cabinetmaking diploma, Algonquin College, Ottawa

Partially completed BFA, York University, Toronto
Training in library sciences, SAIT (incomplete).
Workshops and online courses in IPM, Disaster planning, preventive conservaiton, treatment of feathers, archaeological materials...
